Hi honey!
I'm quite jealous - I've always wondered what the experience would be like. Maybe if we make it back to Blighty I'll come with you!

Looking back, it still hurts to be reminded of how people you love can hurt you.
But, ironically, one of the two friends mentioned in my original post has since been in touch (the one who went travelling round the world), now she has a non-JW in her life and has been disfellowshipped herself. So, you never know who will follow you out...

even though i didnt have the title of elder, i was still active in my work at bethel and the congregation used me as much as possible.
when the congregation recommended that i once again serve as an elder, one elder raised the objection that that barbara was a low-hour publisher.
Rumour has it, it's on the homepage of Freeminds.........
i don't really understand the phenonoma.. .
Last time I looked the Pentagon spent in 36 hours what it takes the UN the rest of the year to spend.
Blue helmets keeping the peace in the USA seems a farfetched reason for 50% of the reason for citizen gun ownership.
meanwhile.......
erm BTS - i was talking to you.
He starts out demanding homicide stats (of all kinds), then subtly changes to gun related deaths.
like I said to you - care to paste my demand for homicide stats of all kinds?
EDIT - Besty stole sweetpea's laptop - apologies to sweetpea for sullying her good name with this post.

i was one year old at the time of my fathers conversion.
although my three older sisters were required to attend the meetings, they never accepted the teachings.
Ahhh, the romance Frank, the romance........

prompted by the thread started by wha happened (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/scandals/179005/1/a-good-friend-of-mine-was-dfd-this-week), i thought i would introduce myself and tell my story.. i am frank kavelin.
my wife barbara and i were recently disfellowshipped for apostasy.
At last.
((((Frank & Barbara))))
i hated it.
we actually never really did.. once, on vacations, we were with another family, they prepared food on the table for breakfast .... and then nobody could touch it for some 15 minutes, when daddy was reading daily text and asking childish questions ... family members were raising hands and answering .... we all were hungry... watching the food ... and hoping it will soon be over (i dont mean armageddon, i mean daily text...) i felt just like an idiot..... albert.
.
I used to read the daily bore as it made me feel almost 'righteous and faithful' (yes, you can get me a bucket...). Sometimes it was pretty dry and dull though.
When I stopped going to meetings and was exploring mainstream Christianity I swapped it for a daily "thoughts of God" - it was much more spiritual and uplifting. My JW best friend came round, saw it and almost had a heart attack. She said to me "do you seriously prefer to read that than the what is provided for us by the faithful and discreet slave???!!!!!". My reply: "YES!". She wasn't impressed. Needless to say she doesn't speak to me anymore.
don't you hate the hypocrisy when you run into a witness you haven't seen in over 5 years (even thought they live less than five miles away in the same town) and they say, "we miss you at the meetings?
" they can't call or stop bye to say hello, but they miss me at the meetings.
what crap.
When I was still a fully paid up member, a dear friend of mine used to email me straight away if we missed any meetings and say she missed us. It used to bug me no end as it always made me feel so uncomfortable especially as my excuses sounded so pathetic. Time over again I would've said "yeah, we missed you too, but we sure didn't miss the meeting!!!".
Still, I think it is simply code for "hey, we missed you suffering alongside us. Please make sure you're at the next one to join us in our misery!"
i've heard of a fair few sexless marriages in the borg, probably something to do with the fact that if you're raised "in" you'll have a pretty skewed view of sex by the time you finally get to do it.
so if someone is trapped in a sexless marriage, from a jw standpoint they could get an unscriptural divorce...but...that doesn't leave them free to remarry??!
seems pretty sadistic really.
Here in the South Bay there are quite a few sexless marriages I hear.......women married to very wealthy men who stay for the money but find the sex elsewhere.
So, many reasons why it's not just a JW phenomenom.
